The architectural inspiration for the villas is drawn from traditional Thai pavilions with their steep pitched roofs and the distinctive spikes of their gable ends.
The refined interiors are a subtle blend of classic Thai motifs with contemporary style. Extensive use of marble and granite, together with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, give the rooms a deliciously cool feel throughout the day. There are just ten villas in all, sleeping two or four (one sleeps six). All are air conditioned and feature a private balcony or terrace, Jacuzzi and kitchen area. Some are built with two floors to make the most of the topography and three have their own private pools.
Set in landscaped tropical gardens where you will also find the resorts two infinity pools, the villas are linked by pretty stone paths. This is a relaxed environment, far removed from the bustle of beach life (although this is easily accessible using the resort’s free shuttle service), Tile restaurant has an impressive reputation for serving authentic regional dishes with a modern twist, accompanied by some of the best views on the island.
Sandalwood’s spa is the ideal place to put the finishing touches to your sense of well-being – try the traditional Thai massage, which incorporates elements of yoga with pressure-point work, therapeutic stretching and reflexology to leave you feeling relaxed yet blissfully energised.
